West Lothian Golf Club Pro-Am 2 June 2009

Former PGA Championship winner Andrew Oldcorn scored his third one-day victory since April 1 with a flawless round of four-under-par 67 in the £6,500 West Lothian Golf Club pro-am at Bo’Ness..

Kings Acre tour pro Oldcorn, an earlier winner at Monifieth and Kilmarnock Barassie, birdied the fourth, sixth, eight and 10th in halves of 33 (three under par) and 34 (one under) to win the first prize by one stroke from Andrew Marshall (Houston Golf Range), Chris Kelly (Cawder) and Craig Lee (unattached). Oldcorn scored with a 10am starting time and the morning starters had calm conditions whereas those teeing off from lunchtime had to contend with a rising cold wind. David Orr (East Renfrewshire) led the Smith Packaging 1 trio of Derek Cant (handicap 18), Jim Small (13) and John Johnston (16) to victory in the team event with a net score of 14-under-par 57. A total of 32 teams entered this years event and helped to make it another successful one, particularly for the main beneficiary The MacMillan Cancer Support Charity. Joe Frediani of SprayStore handed over a cheque for £4,690 to the representative on the night and this was later added to with a further £760, from West Lothian G.C. raised from a couple of events held on the day.

Captain Alan O’Neill and Pro-am Organiser Peter Ritchie would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Alan Gibson’s greenkeeping team who turned the course out in immaculate condition, Craig Samson and his clubhouse team for the catering and “watering” aspects of the day, Alan Reid and his Pro Shop team, the PGA, Professionals, sponsors, competitors and club members, who helped out on the day, for making this a very memorable event.
